The frontlines

May 14, 2024 | Adaptation, Climate Crisis, Extreme Precipitation

Who are on the frontlines of the ClimateCrisis

  • those living in places that are close to human and animal thermal limits
  • those living near rivers and ice
  • those living near coastlines.

As we continue to heat the risks are going to rise exponentially on the front lines, and it’s happening already at +1.3° of heating.

Take the situation in Rio Grande du Sul in Brazil for example:

I don't know if this has registered so much outside Brazil, but speaking as someone who knows the region well, and still has lots of family there: this has been unimaginably horrible and devastating. The climate dystopia has arrived, and it's really, really awful... www.reuters.com/world/americ...

The above in response to this Reuters reporting on the situation in this area of Brazil: Persistent Brazil floods raise specter of climate migration

We can’t avoid 1.5° which is now imminent. It is very likely that we will fail at keeping temperatures below 2ºC either.

Climate chaos awaits.
