During a press briefing about the South African Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) 2025 Minister Ramokgopa stated that coal’s share in the electricity generation mix will be significantly reduced from 58% of total capacity today to 27% by 2039.

Wind & Solar will make up 40% by the same date.
