Why is this terrifying? Well we are able to look back and see what conditions were like when this much CO2 was in earth’s atmosphere.

If we cannot find a way to remove this carbon from the atmosphere we are locked into a world which will be 2.5 to 4° warmer than preindustrial averages and sea levels between 5 and 25m higher than they are now.

We are in deep, deep trouble
