This is has been coming for a while and yesterday after listening to Evan's interview with Jack Dorsey, I am taking the plunge and making an intentional shift in how I share content, one that aligns with my belief in ownership, permanence, and an open web. Here’s what’s changing and why it matters:
The Shift
Moving forward, relevant commentary on climate stories, analysis, and threads will originate here as "Notes" and not solely on Bluesky. Quick shares, replies, and breaking reactions will still happen natively there, but curated insights with more depth will live here.
Why?
- Ownership Over Algorithms
My thoughts shouldn’t live at the mercy of a platform’s future or feed rules. Hosting them myself ensures they remain accessible, archivable, and truly mine. - Fewer Silos, More Connections
When you engage with my Notes (even via Bluesky), conversations sync back to my site. This keeps dialogue unified and resilient, no scattered fragments across platforms. - The Open Web Needs Us
I believe in an internet where individuals publish on their own terms, on their own spaces. Blogs + RSS feeds create a distributed, resilient web not one locked inside corporate walls. If you value independent voices, consider starting a blog too!
What This Means For You
- You’ll see the same content syndicated to Bluesky, but clicking through to my site ensures you get the full context + permanence. I’ll always include key quotes upfront so you get value before clicking away.
- I’m embracing Publish on Own Site, Syndicate Elsewhere. You should join me!
How to Follow Along
- Subscribe via RSS the best way!
- Access my Notes here
- Connect on Bluesky for syndicated posts + real-time conversation
This isn’t about leaving a platform, it’s about centering my thoughts where they belongs, on my site. Thanks for being part of this experiment in a more resilient, human-scale web!
